DETROIT — As is always the case, January is a busy month in terms of major industry events for Michigan businesses, and 2018 was no exception. Two major events took place in January that are of great importance to firms in our state, CES (formerly the International Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, Nev., and the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Mobile Monday Detroit has asked local industry experts who were in attendance at these events to share their insights, experiences, and forecasts based on what they saw and learned. Mobile Monday Detroit will take place on Monday, Feb. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at RIIS, 1250 Stephenson Highway, Suite 200, in Troy.
The Consumer Electronics Show serves as an annual launchpad for new innovation and technology that has changed the world – and lately, as connected and autonomous vehicles have become a larger part of our transportation landscape, has increasingly become a showcase heavily participated in by Michigan automobile industry-related firms.
The North American International Auto Show is Michigan’s annual opportunity to show the jewels of the automobile industry as it has been doing for over 100 years, but starting in 1987 as a truly international event hosting nearly 5,000 journalists from around the globe. The show pursues a vision of continually redefining its role as it strives to be an indispensable international event – and in 2018 expanded its’ AutoMobili-D exhibit area.
The event features unique communities of participating companies and tech start-ups covering five key mobility areas, including autonomous driving, connected car technologies, e-mobility, mobility services, urban mobility, and more.
Joining Mobile Monday Detroit to offer their insights on these events will be:
* Paul Jacobs, President, jacAPPS – speaking on tech at CES
* Michael Blicher, Business Development Representative, Autotalks/Managing Director, MCBNetwrx – speaking on AutoMobili-D at NAIAS
The event is free to attend but advance reservations via Meetup are required in order to attend; make your reservation at http://meetup.com/Mobile-Monday-Detroit. Refreshments will be served courtesy of our host and sponsor, RIIS. Free parking is available onsite.
