LANSING — 3Con Corp., which does business as 3Con USA, is establishing its North American headquarters in Wixom with support from the Michigan Strategic Fund, the Michigan Economic Development Corp. announced Wednesday.
3Con is a supplier of automotive interior systems. The company plans to establish its North American presence by initially leasing a building in Wixom for its North American headquarters and research and development operations. Within five years the company plans to build its own permanent facility.
The project will generate a total capital investment of $6.4 million and create 136 jobs, resulting in a $550,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Michigan was chosen over a competing site in South Carolina.
Wixom has offered property tax abatement in support of the project.

“3Con is extremely pleased with the ability of the state of Michigan to help bridge the gap for our organization,” said 3Con President of US Operations Raymond Costello. “The automotive talent pool and infrastructure cannot be compared to anywhere else in the nation. For those reasons, we have planted our permanent roots here in Oakland County and have begun hiring. Come on out and join our team!”
The Michigan Business Development Program provides grants, loans and other economic assistance to qualified businesses that make investments or create jobs in Michigan, with preference given to businesses that need additional assistance for deal-closing and for second stage gap financing.
The MSF considers a number of factors in making these awards, including: out-of-state competition, private investment in the project, business diversification opportunities, near-term job creation, wage and benefit levels of the new jobs, and net-positive return to the state. Business retention and retail projects are not eligible for consideration of these incentives.
