As a member of a CU that uses Mahalo, I’m super disappointed with it. They told us it would be an improvement of our OLB, but it has numerous, stupid flaws.
1) it wastes so much space. On my 27″ monitor I can only see 5 accounts at a time. I used to be able to see all 26 of my accounts on the same page. And with those 5, there’s less information for each account than used to be on the page. I can see 8 if I use the grid format instead of row format, but that’s a confusing mess. I was told that this is just how Mahalo is.
2) I can no longer change the names of my accounts. They’re stuck with the same names. I was told that Mahalo hasn’t implemented the ability to change account names yet. My CU said I could submit a written request to them to pass on for this. The old OLB had that feature.
3) I have only 5 (I think) themes available and they are all for different versions of colorblind people, so they are combinations like pink and neon green. It seems like low hanging fruit to implement a few themes that are geared towards full-sighted folks. How hard can it possibly be to change the colors? Again, I was told that Mahalo is “working on it” since this time last year.
4) Everything is now behind 3 menus. On mobile, this makes some sense, but on a large PC screen, the space could be used much more efficiently to limit clicks. This is an issue because it’s not really clear what’s going to be behind each menu choice, especially when most items are behind “move money” and “more services” (the other is “accounts” which is pretty clear).
I am switching credit unions to one that uses Alchemy because Mahalo has been such a disappointment. Full disclosure, I work in the CU industry which is why I know about this stuff, but I do not work for any OLB provider, nor do I have a relationship with any of them.
