EVANSVILLE, Ind.–Metronet, the nation’s largest independently owned 100% fiber data network, announced that construction of new networks has begun in Portage in Kalamazoo County and Kentwood in Kent County.
The installation will allow residents and businesses in those communities access to multi-gigabit data access.
In Portage, the company said construction has begun near the intersection of Westcove Drive, Mcgillicuddy Lane, and Angling Road and will move rapidly throughout the community with the first customers in Portage expected to gain access to service by this summer. Underground work in Kentwood has begun near the intersections of 32nd Street SE, Hampton Downs Drive SE, Breton Road SE, and Brook Drive SE. As construction progresses, customers may sign up for presale to indicate their interest and prioritize service installation once available. Those interested in Metronet services may visit Metronet.com to access presale and to be notified once their address is available for installation.
Ben Ruzick, Metronet government affairs director, said that “Through the rapid deployment of ultra-high-speed internet, the community will enjoy seamless connectivity to fulfill their diverse online needs.”
As construction advances, residents will see Metronet trucks throughout the area as construction activities continue. Residents will receive communication by mail about construction activity in their neighborhood 30 days prior to starting. Additional messaging, such as yard signs, will also be provided to notify residents of when construction is beginning in their neighborhood. Metronet crews are identified by ID tags and branded Metronet vehicles.
Metronet plans to hire local market management positions, sales and customer service professionals and service technicians to support the Portage and Kentwood areas. Those interested in joining the Metronet team can visit metronet.com/careers to search available positions and to submit applications.
