ESD sets Gold Award Reception

SOUTHFIELD–The Engineering Society of Detroit will host its Gold Award Reception & Recognition Wednesday, March 15 at its headquarters, 20700 Civic Center Drive, Suite 450, in Southfield.

The event begins with a strolling reception at 5:30 p.m. The awards program will begin at 6:45 p.m.

This unique event with ESD and its Affiliate Council attracts professionals representing more than 100 ESD-affiliated technical societies to honor and recognize engineers, scientists, and technical professionals who have distinguished themselves through outstanding achievement and service within their respective societies.

Now in its 52nd year, the event will feature a presentation by this year’s Gold Award winner. This award is given annually to an individual who is collectively upheld by the council for his or her outstanding contributions to the fields of science and engineering.

This year’s Gold Award recipient is Robert F. Bordley, PhD, ESEP, PMP, CAP, PSTAT, professor and program director of systems engineering and design at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He was nominated by the Michigan Chapter of the International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE).

Also to be presented is ESD’s Ann O. Fletcher Award for Distinguished Service. This year’s recipient is Jack A. Stein, an automotive electronics engineer who has served as chair emeritus of the ESD Affiliate Council, assistant director of the INCOSE Americas Sector, past president of the INCOSE Michigan chapter, co-chair of the INCOSE Risk Management Working Group, and past chair of the SAE Automotive Electronics Reliability Committee.

Members of the ESD Affiliate Council will also present individual awards from their societies.

The cost of the event is $75, which includes a variety of hors d’oeuvre, beer, and wine.
