ANN ARBOR–The data center software developer VergeIO has named veteran industry analyst George Crump as chief marketing officer.
For 14 years, Crump was the founder and lead analyst at Storage Switzerland, a premier independent IT research firm covering the storage, backup virtualization, and cloud markets. As a writer, speaker, and strategic thinker, he focuses on giving IT practical insight into data center problems. He has over 30 years of experience in the IT industry, holding executive engineering, sales, and marketing positions. Before joining VergeIO, he was CMO and chief product strategist at StorOne, a storage software provider.
Crump’s appointment follows an expansion of VergeIO’s sales and technology advancements that have generated strong results.
“There is no one in our industry with George’s reputation and credibility when it comes to identifying the right products and technologies for organizations looking to improve IT operations and reduce total cost of ownership,” said Yan Ness, VergeIO CEO. “The IT community has long valued George’s experience, insight, and clarity. As our CMO, he can continue to help IT professionals address their most critical issues, like controlling cost, scaling to meet performance and capacity demands, and simplifying IT.”
Said Crump of his new role: “VergeIO and its VergeOS software embody what I’ve been advocating for years: organizations must find ways to reduce the cost and complexity of virtualization, storage, and networking infrastructures. The root cause of the ever-increasing data center cost and complexity is today’s solutions are too niche and don’t address the scale problem. I believe VergeIO is the company that has broken through these challenges.”
Crump and Ness will host a live webinar, “How to Eliminate the Data Center Scale Problem,” Thursday, Jan. 12 at 11:45 a.m. Eastern time to explain how the VergeOS architecture eliminates the scale problem and leads to a far simpler and more cost-effective IT infrastructure.
