MLK Day edition of M2 TechCast features STEM experts on diversity—and COVID update

SOUTHFIELD—The Monday, Jan. 18 edition of the M2 TechCast will feature two experts on diversity in STEM education and careers, along with the program’s weekly update on the coronavirus pandemic from a Detroit-area expert.

The show kicks off at 2 p.m. Eastern time with Robert Magee, executive director of the Engineering Society of Detroit, who will review statistics on the race and gender gaps in engineering graduates, along with ESD’s decision to establish the Girls in Engineering Academy.

At 2:15 p.m., Sibrina Collins, director of the Marburger STEM Center at Lawrence Technological University, will speak on the importance of broadening the image of STEM professionals in the classroom.

The final half-hour of the show at 2:30 will be spent with infectious disease expert Fred Brown, who will discuss the latest on the coronavirus vaccine—and the current distribution bottlenecks.

The M2 TechCast is hosted by veteran tech reporters Mike Brennan and Matt Roush. Brennan is publisher of Michigan Technology News, while Roush is director of media relations at Lawrence Technological University.
