ANN ARBOR—Clinc, a developer of conversational artificial intelligence systems, announced the appointment of Jon Newhard as the organization’s new CEO, effective immediately.
In his new role, Newhard will focus on overseeing the company’s growth and customer success strategy, as well as building out the engineering, marketing, and product teams with local Michigan talent.

Prior to joining Clinc, Newhard was CEO of Trafficware, a traffic management software developer in Sugar Land, Texas. He has more than 25 years of experience in the IT industry, including leadership positions with Cubic Corp., Michigan-based New World Systems, and Kaplan Compliance Solutions, among others.
Newhard holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bacehlor’s degree in economics and engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Clinc was founded in 2015 based on AI research at the University of Michigan. Clinc’s AI emulates human intelligence and is able to understand unstructured, unconstrained speech, and can interpret not only semantics and intent, but the underlying meaning of user queries.
