AIST sets Feb. 11 meeting

SOUTHFIELD—The Association for Iron and Steel Technology will hold its next Detroit Chapter meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 11

The meeting will feature a presentation by Guiliano Costantino, product line manager of Gerdau Special Steel North America, who will speak on “Shape the Future: How We Are Living Our Purpose.”

Costantino has a master’s degree from the University of Lorraine’s National Higher School of Systems Engineering and Innovation in France, and is an MBA candidate at the University of Michgian-Dearborn. He  was selected for Gerdau’s GMakers Program, a training program to develop a group of leaders who will work on specific business challenge through innovation, design thinking, and digital methods.

In his presentation, Costantino will share how Gerdau is preparing for the ever-changing automotive industry and a world full of VUCA—a term that originated at the U.S. Army War College to describe the volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity of a post-Cold War world. The presentation will include highlights about the company’s GMakers leadership training, its digital roadmap, and initiatives Gerdau is taking to help customers develop products of the future.

The meeting will take place at the Holiday Inn Southgate, 17201 Northline Road. It begins with a networking reception at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30, and the program and keynote presentation at 7:30. The cost is $55 per person or $550 for a table of 10. Students attend for free if registered via the AIST Steel to Students Program, sponsored by the AIST Foundation. Dress code is business casual.
