Probate Courts go paperless with Southfield firm’s software

SOUTHFIELD—ImageSoft Inc. announced that Tuscola County in Michigan’s Thumb and Kalamazoo County in southwest Lower Michigan are the latest Michigan counties to adopt its The Paperless Probate Solution for document management in Michigan’s probate courts.

The addition brings the number of probate courts using ImageSoft to more than 10 percent of Michigan’s 83 counties.

Hard-copy documentation of matters handled by probate courts, including death certificates, petitions, wills, powers of attorney, and more, are electronically captured via scanners, fax or email before being automatically placed into virtual folders and secured in a digital cloud or data center. The Paperless Probate Solution supports eFiling and other input methods, such as electronic forms and Microsoft Word templates, that automate indexing and improves case file integrity.

Digitalized data is secured at intake and, through a court-configurable workflow, is safeguarded from natural disasters and fraud. Documents are exchanged among attorneys, beneficiaries, court clerks, trustees, hospitals, and all other affiliated parties. As documents get reviewed, eSigned by a judge, and filed, the Paperless Probate Solution keeps court staff in complete control of their process.

The integrity of civil commitments is also safeguarded by the Paperless Probate Solution which, when deployed in a HIPAA-compliant manner, equips civil commitment proceedings with transparent audit trails, real-time reporting, integrations with court case management systems, law enforcement record management systems, and any National Information Exchange Model-compliant (NIEM) systems to support multi-media content for exhibits. The solution also has full retention capability to ensure destruction policy compliance.

“Working alongside customers to take probate paperless has been rewarding in several ways and for multiple people,” said ImageSoft president Scott Bade. “It liberates the judge to review cases, sign orders or perform hearing preparation from virtually any location. This eases correspondence between the judge and all parties, which gives invaluable time back to everyone. More importantly, it lends itself to stronger protection for children and vulnerable populations, and allows affected families to move forward sooner.”
