
SOUTHFIELD—The Building Codes and Regulations Committee of AIA Detroit will present seminars on the 2018 International Building Code Use of Fire Sprinkler and Alarm Systems regulations and the 2015 IBC Fire Resistance and Hazardous Uses regulations.
The seminars will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18 at St. Mary’s Cultural Center, 18100 Merriman Road in Livonia.
The fire sprinkler and alarm systems session identifies those conditions under which automatic sprinkler protection and/or fire alarm systems are required. The application of the fire area concept will be discussed, along with the varying extent of sprinkler protection required based upon specific situations.
The fire resistance and hazardous uses session identifies the various fire-resistance requirements applicable where hazardous uses are present. An extensive discussion of control areas as described in IBC Section 414.2 is provided. In addition, applicable provisions for Group H occupancies, incidental uses and separated occupancies are addressed.
The cost of the event is $50 for AIA members and $100 for non-members.
