New computer from Wixom firm

WIXOM – The Wixom-based electronics manufacturer Acromag Inc. has introduced a new single-board computer, the AcroExpress VPX6860 6U OpenVPX.

Company officials said the VPX6860, pictured above, features the sixth-generation Skylake Intel Xeon E3-1505M processor and CM236 PCH chipset. Expanded memory performance comes with up to 32GB of DDR4 ECC SODIMMs that are firmly attached to the board but removable for security or upgrades.

This SBC is designed for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications and manufactured in the United States with a minimum 7-year life expectancy. Front input-output air-cooled and conduction-cooled versions are offered.

“Acromag is expanding on the popularity of our 3U VPX processor model to provide a 6U version with greater I/O flexibility,” stated Robert Greenfield, Acromag’s business development manager. “We added dual 40GbE ports and two slots for XMC and AcroPack I/O modules.”

The AcroExpress processor boards are ideal for military and aerospace applications that require high-performance computing, expansive I/O support, and advanced cooling management.
