PLYMOUTH — In an effort to support the ongoing development of business skills among manufacturers, the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center will offer a series of four free workshops geared towards improving strategic planning.
“Poor strategic planning can be detrimental to an organization,” said George Singos, Business Leader Advisor at the center and lead instructor of the Strategic Planning workshops. “For example, a company operating without metrics is like watching a sporting event without stats. Established and monitored metrics are essential for any company to track success, know what to expect in the future and know how to prepare for the future. All manufacturers looking to improve in these areas can benefit from attending these workshops.”
The center’s strategic planning workshops will take place monthly, May through August. Manufacturing leaders and executives can learn valuable skills from each of these workshops, which cover a variety of topics including profitability, overtime, market awareness and business metrics. Experts from The Center will host these free workshops with the goal of enhancing the strategic planning skills of manufacturing executives, while further supporting growth in Michigan manufacturing.
All workshops will be held at the center’s Plymouth location from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. The upcoming schedule of workshops is as follows:
* May 15 – Make the Bottom Line Your Top Priority – Are your profits down despite soaring revenue? Explore the options manufacturers have in assessing their current finances to make sure this doesn’t happen.
* June 20 – Is Overtime Overtaking Your Business? – Learn how your company can get back on track and on schedule, while still keeping up with demand.
* July 25 – Lead Your Company to the Top – To reach their full potential, businesses must have a strong awareness of the market in which they operate. Learn how to determine how well you are performing in comparison to competitors.
* Aug.16 – Measuring the Effectiveness of Goals with Metrics – Gain tips on how to better assess your company’s performance, establish relevant business metrics and prevent more goals from being missed in the future.
