LUDINGTON — The Mason County Broadband Committee has partnered with the community engagement program of the nonprofit Connected Nation to develop a plan to improve access to high speed Internet in the county.
The initial step to developing a comprehensive, county-oriented plan will consist of a short survey for agriculture producers, business organizations and owners, healthcare facilities, schools, and residents. This will help the broadband committee members understand the unique needs in Mason County.
“The Mason County Growth Alliance is excited to start on the Connected 2.0 process,” said Spence Riggs, economic development coordinator of the Mason County Growth Alliance. “The information that we will be collecting throughout this process will help to put Mason County in a favorable position for the deployment of broadband infrastructure in the years to come.”
Participation in the online survey takes about 10 minutes and will help the committee to better understand the status of high-speed broadband Internet access, adoption, and use in Mason County. After a structured evaluation of this assessment, the Mason County Broadband Committee and Connected will develop a Technology Action Plan focused on effectively and efficiently improving Mason County’s broadband environment.
“Getting everyone’s input – from parents to educators to businesses to the agricultural community – is key in helping us develop a Technology Action Plan that meets the unique needs of Mason County,” said Tom Stephenson, community technology advisor for Connected Nation’s community engagement programd. “The more input we get, the more likely we are able to identify ways to create broadband access, adoption, and use to ensure that no one in Mason County is left out.”
