
FARMINGTON HILLS — One of the most important skills an Angel investor needs is the ability to do due diligence on a potential investment. If this is a skill you need to hone, you should attend Great Lakes Angels’ half-day due diligence workshop on Feb. 10 in Farmington Hills. Registration is now open.
Understanding how to prepare for and perform due diligence on a company is one of the most important pieces of executing a successful early stage equity deal. Angel groups and Investors that have a strong due diligence process are better positioned to increase returns.
In fact, the Kauffman Foundation report, “Returns of Angels in Groups,” found that there is a direct correlation between the more time investors spend on due diligence and an increased rate of return on their investments.
In our half-day course, Great Lakes Angels will teach the fundamentals of how to prepare for, set up and execute a solid due diligence process. It’s accomplished in an interactive classroom-style setting taught by Angel Resource Institute’s renowned faculty of certified instructors. Each lead instructor has at least 10 years or more of angel investing experience, leading early stage companies and managing angel investment groups.
Our panel of presenters will consist of various highly respectable and successful practitioners. The keynote speaker and program leader will be John May, chair-emeritus of the Angel Capital Association. May has been at the forefront of the angel investor movement and is managing partner of the New Vintage Group, which has organized five angel investing organizations in Washington, D.C., placing funds into more than 50 companies.
The event will take place at UHY Advisors, 27725 Stansbury Blvd., Suite 100, Farmington Hills. It begins with registration and networking at 12:30 p.m. The course runs from 1 to 5:15 p.m. and concludes with a cocktail reception with speakers and presenters.
