Teresa Isela VanderSloot, director of Women in Engineering, Recruitment and K-12 Outreach for the college, said the half-day event is filled with fun hands-on activities that inspire innovation, explore future careers, and show how engineers can change the world.

“Engineers are people who use communication skills, creativity, and problem-solving skills to dream up, design, improve and build things that matter,” she said.

Check-in begins at 12:30 p.m. in the MSU College of Engineering, 428 S. Shaw Lane, East Lansing.

Elementary and middle school students from all over Michigan will engage in multiple engineering activities, such as learning how electrical signals work with our body’s nervous system to how to count in binary. The format is similar to an open house – participants have a list to pick from on what they want to see.

“Thanks to great volunteers and sponsor, Ford Motor Company, the event is free although registration is required,” VanderSloot said. “Mark your calendar because this will be a one of a kind and great experience for youth.”
