TechCentury Magazine Sets 2016 Editorial Calendar

SOUTHFIELD — The Editorial Board of Technology Century Magazine, the official publication of The Engineering Society of Detroit, has announced the magazine’s editorial calendar for 2016.

The calendar of four quarterly issues will be focused as follows:

Spring issue: Nanotechnology. We’ll explore all things small, revisiting the magazine’s coverage of these technologies from 2007. We’re looking at paints that insulate, window coatings that generate electricity, tiny particles in chemical technologies and solar power. Submission deadline Feb. 1, publication date April 1.

Summer issue: Construction and Design Awards issue. Water and Michigan’s Blue Economy. Will clean, fresh water wind up being the oil of the 21st Century? How can Michigan use its position amid the Great Lakes to its advantage? Submission deadline May 15, publication date July 1.

Fall issue: Smart Systems. We’ll look at increasing intelligence and autonomy in everything from cars to production lines to appliances. Submission deadline Aug. 1, Publication date Oct. 1.

Winter issue: Advances in education and scientific education. Is the classroom obsolete? Will online education rule? What will education – specifically, engineering and science education – look like 20 years from now? Submission deadline Nov. 1. Publication date Dec. 31.

Unsolicited articles related to these topics are welcomed and may be emailed to TechCentury Managing Editor Matt Roush at mroush@esd.org. Authors of TechCentury articles who are Professional Engineers in the state of Michigan can earn continuing education hours by researching and writing articles.
