Blue Medora Adds VMware As Investor In Series A Round

GRAND RAPIDS — The cloud systems management developer Blue Medora announced that it has a new investor in its recently announced Series A round of venture capital — VMware, a Palo Alto, Calif., developer of cloud and virtualization software.

Blue Medora officials said the $4.6 million Series A funding will help accelerate the development of Blue Medora’s software, which extend the functionality of VMware’s cloud management softtware, VMware vRealize.

Blue Medora software integrates cloud systems management and application performance management platforms by providing management and monitoring capabilities for applications and underlying IT infrastructure. The software ties together data from virtualized and cloud-based databases, applications, and services with the critical underlying compute, storage and network infrastructure to create a unified view of the infrastructure. These capabilities are delivered as value-added product management packs for VMware’s vRealize and Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control platforms.

“Blue Medora is an emerging innovator in cloud systems management,” said Nathan Owen, CEO of Blue Medora. “Through our relationship with VMware, we work to help further reduce operational constraints for IT professionals, as well as help minimize capital costs for our mutual customers’ technology infrastructures.”

Blue Medora has been developing software to support VMware’s cloud systems management platform since 2013.

“Simultaneously managing virtualized and hybrid cloud-based workloads together is among the leading challenges facing IT professionals today,” said Ajay Singh, vice president and general manager for management suites at VMware. “Blue Medora’s solutions complement VMware vRealize Suite and help customers promote automated IT operations management, performance and availability monitoring of hybrid workloads.”

Blue Medora said that during the first half of 2015, the company more than doubled its staff and quadrupled its product sales, and has increased its presence in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, the Pacific regions.
