Manufacturer Expanding In Delta Township

LANSING – Lansing-area economic development officials announced Monday that Munters Corp., a manufacturer of air treatment equipment, will build a new 110,000-square-foot manufacturing plant on Ena Drive in Delta Township.

The plant represents a $3.85 million investment in the building, and $315,000 in equipment and personal property. The expansion will result in the retention of the 57 local jobs in addition to the creation of another estimated 16 jobs based on the company’s expectation of growth over the next two years.

“This brand new facility will offer us the chance to really dial in our production flow to increase efficiencies and our overall competitiveness in the global marketplace,” Munters operations manager Keith Goebel said.

A Swedish company, Munters has five plants across the United States along with a manufacturing and sales presence in 30 countries around the world. Munters manufactures air handlign products for the automotive, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, and shipbuilding industries. The Michigan operation focuses
primarily on climate control systems for agricultural applications — ventilation, cooling, heating and controls systems that go into livestock care and production.

The company is requesting a 50 percent property tax abatement for up to 12 years. A hearing on the tax break is scheduled to be held before the Delta Township Board Aug. 17.
