Ann Arbor’s Truven Health Gets $86M Deal In Colorado

ANN ARBOR — The Ann Arbor health care data analysis provider Truven Care Analytics Tuesday announced an $86 milion five-year constract with the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing.

Under the deal, Truven will provide business intelligence and data management services. Included will be a first-of-its-kind state data warehouse that will collect, consolidate, and organize data from multiple sources, and fully integrate Medicaid eligibility and claims data, for reporting and business process analysis. By integrating the vast collection of disparate data sources from across the state into a single data warehouse, the new system will support Colorado Medical Assistance and related programs.

Said Mike Boswood, Truven Health Analytics president and CEO: “This project will change the way patients, providers and officials can access and utilize vital health information to improve outcomes and enhance the client and provider experience.”

Truven says its data warehouse system will support accountability and continuous improvement in the provision of medical services, offering HCPF the ability to evaluate programs and health benefit plans, and establish provider rates by forecasting utilization, cost, and caseload and modeling scenarios based on those analytics.

This Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing contract represents the continuation of a longstanding relationship and partnership with Truven Health to support the state’s current information efforts through the Colorado Medicaid Management Innovation and Transformation (COMMIT) project. Together, Truven Health and HCPF are developing systems that provide a consolidated analytical and reporting system for use across the Medicaid enterprise. Truven has more than 8,500 customers across the healthcare industry including 30 Medicaid agencies. Truven also currently employs a staff of more than 330 professionals in Denver and has more than 150 clients throughout the state.
