DETROIT — AT&T Inc. has announced improved mobile internet coverage and voice performance in Flint and Linden in Genesee County and Franklin in Oakland County.
In Genesee County, customers should notice faster data speeds and improved performance in Flint, along South Graham Road, west of M-118 and along US-23; near Lavelle and Flushing roads; and near Saginaw Street and East Hamilton Avenue. In Linden, the upgrades will be most noticeable at Hogan and Lobdell roads.
AT&T enhanced a cell tower in Linden and three in Flint to create stronger Internet connections and help better manage mobile traffic.
In Oakland County, a new antenna system will give customers stronger connections throughout the Franklin area.
The network upgrade, called an Outdoor Distributed Antenna System (oDAS), consists of strategically placed antennas that distribute AT&T’s wireless network coverage to more than 4,500 people in a four square mile boundary of Franklin: Lone Pine Road to the north, Telegraph Road on the east, 13 Mile Road to the south and Inkster Road on the west. It can provide better, more consistent wireless coverage to customers, so they don’t have to worry about their service getting stuck in a traffic jam of other people’s calls, texts and posts.
AT&T invested more than $140 billion including investments in its networks and acquisitions of wireless spectrum and operations from 2009 to 2014, including $1.7 billion in Michigan over the past two years.
