
TROY — The Society of Plastics Engineers’ Detroit Section and its Automotive Division iwll hold AutoEPCON, a one-day technical conference and exhibition focused on engineering plastics for the auto industry.
The event will be held Tuesday, May 5 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Detroit-Troy Marriott Hotel, 200 W. Big Beaver Road in Troy.
First held in 2006, the Automotive Engineering Plastics Conference (AutoEPCON) features technical presentations on the newest advances in materials technology, predictive engineering, process enhancements, and application developments for thermoplastic and thermoset engineering plastics for the automotive industry.
Tabletop exhibits are also on display throughout the event.
The registration fee includes the Conference Program Book, which contains abstracts of the presentations, as well as lunch, refreshments, and a reception, which provides further networking opportunities for all who attend.
Keynote presenters include Dr. Rose Ryntz, Vice President of Advanced Development and Material at IAC, on “The Role of Plastics in Automotive Interiors;” Dr. Jeffrey H. Helms, Global Automotive Manager at Celanese Corp., on “Innovation in the Automotive Value Chain for Cost and Weight Savings;’ and Suzanne Cole, CEO of Miller Cole LLC, on “Regulations Driving Market Demand.”
There are also breakout sessions in several tracks — materials, lightweighting, a CFC standards roadmap, testing and secondary processes.
