Auburn Hills Gets State Cleanup Loan For Development

LANSING — The Michigan Department of Envionmental Quality Monday announced a $572,750 loan to the city of Auburn Hills for environmental cleanup at a vacant property at the corner of Auburn and Squirrel roads.

The cleanup will allow the development of the contaminated 1.3-acre property into the Edge Lofts, a mixed use development that will include residential and retail space.

The Edge Lofts project is expected to create eight to 10 new jobs.

The DEQ’s Brownfield Redevelopment Program provides funding to local governments for environmental response activities on brownfield properties where redevelopment is proposed. Brownfield properties are vacant or abandoned properties with known or suspected environmental contamination.
