ESD Programs The Talk Of WJR’s ‘Internet Advisor’ Show

SOUTHFIELD — Engineering Society of Detroit programs to alleviate Michigan’s shortage of technology workers were on the air Saturday, as ESD Director of Communications and Public Relations Matt Roush was a guest on WJR AM 760’s Internet Advisor radio show.

Roush appeared with veteran WJR host Foster Braun and tech experts Bill Carver and Shane Hamelin on the two-hour show.

Other guests on the show included Detroit entrepreneur and New York Times bestselling business book author Josh Linkner, and Michigan Technology News editor and host Mike Brennan.

Linkner discussed the Fuel Detroit Leadership Conference, being held at Motor City Casino April 13, featuring a variety of national business and technology leaders, including actor-entrepreneur Jessica Alba, basketball star Earvin “Magic” Johnson and digital marketing pioneer Seth Godin.

Brennan discussed the new content partnership between his longtime technology news website, www.mitechnews.com, and ESD’s www.TechnologyCentury.com online magazine.

Roush discussed several upcoming ESD events, including ESD’s April 13 Job Fair, the DTE Energy-ESD Energy Conference and Exhibition May 5, the Engineering SMArT Michigan competition for high school students May 21, and ESD’s members-only tours.

The panel also discussed Detroit’s tech- and entrepreneur-based downtown resurgence, and how Michigan might fill the talent pipeline with qualified engineers and scientists.
