Merit Network Adds Cybersecurity Service Through Clarkston Firm

ANN ARBOR — Merit Network Inc., the provider of high-speed network services to Michigan’s public sector and educational community, is bringing the OneStone Information Assurance Portal service to its members through a partnership with ChoiceTel and ChoiceCyber in Clarkston.

Developed by Seccuris, an IT security provider based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, OneStone is a managed security service that provides reliable around-the-clock threat monitoring, vulnerability management, business risk assessments, asset classification and tracking, and comprehensive reporting.

Backed by a 24-hour Security Operations Center, OneStone will help Merit Members make effective risk-based decisions without the costs of maintaining a 24-7 in-house security department, including staffing, training, maintenance and infrastructure.

“Managing risk from cyber attacks is something we all struggle with,” said Don Welch, president and CEO of Merit Network. “Seccuris will be a great partner for Merit and our members.”

Educational institutions and non-profit organizations face cybersecurity threats daily. OneStone provides a detailed dashboard and real-time reports that identify, quantify and prioritize information security strengths and weaknesses of a computing environment, providing users with an action plan to reduce the risk of serious consequences. It guards against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats and keeps organizations compliant with rapidly changing industry and government regulations.

“Merit is adding cybersecurity services that can make a big impact to our membership, and Seccuris’ OneStone is a great addition to our portfolio.” said David Dennis, director of product and software development at Merit Network. “The need in the public sector community is significant, and we will continue to seek out solutions that represent the best fit and value.”
