SOUTHFIELD — The Michigan Council of Women in Technology and its MCWT Foundation will announce the finalists of its Ninth Annual MCWT Website Design Competition for high school girls on Nov. 29.
Finalist presentations will take place Saturday, Dec. 6 starting at 9 a.m. at the Blue Care Network Auditorium in Southfield.
Each year’s competition has a theme, allowing contestants to focus on a specific topic. This year’s theme is “Repurposing: The ultimate in creativity and recycling.”
Contestants create a website that illustrates unexpected uses for items — from old items to unused items to everyday items, all used in an unexpected way. This theme encourages creativity, thoughtfulness, and a little research.
Cash prizes range from $50 to $750 for the top six winners in each of the two categories, beginner and advanced.
