1DEVDAY Coming Saturday

DETROIT — 1DevDay, the annual conference for metro Detroit’s community of software developers and architects, will be held Saturday, Nov. 15 at Cobo Center.

Presenting the morning keynote, “Fear and the Evolution of Languages,” will be Bruce Tate, author of well-known software books such as “Better, Faster, Lighter Java” and others.

In honor of Nov. 15 as the Global Day of Coderetreat, when software developers all over the world will be practicing the fundamentals of software development, there will also be a day-long Coderetreat at the event, sponsored by Pillar Technology Group LLC, a software developer with offices in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Columbus, Ohio, Des Moines, Iowa, and Palo Alto, Calif.

Other sessions will cover the .Net and Silverlight technology Castle Windsor, database technologies, privacy management, and many Java- and C#-related technologies and features.

The closing keynote will be given by Jennifer Marsman, a principal developer evangelist in Microsoft’s Developer and Platform Evangelism group, where she educates developers on Microsoft’s latest technologies. Marsman is a frequent speaker at software development conferences across the United States. Prior to becoming a developer evangelist, Jennifer was a software developer in Microsoft’s Natural Interactive Services division. She has earned
two patents for her work in search and data mining algorithms. She holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and a master’s in computer science and engineering from the University of Michigan. Organizers said the event is contained in a specific section of Cobo Center, which means no wasted time hunting for rooms. Lunch will be provided and parking will be available on the Cobo Roof.
