NOVI — The Engineering Society of Detroit’s 2014 Fall Job Fair is under way at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

The job fair is free to jobseekers who are ESD members. Non-ESD members can attend the job fair for $20 and also receive a one-year membership in ESD, a $99 value.

The job fair continues until 7 p.m. Monday. The Suburban Collection Showplace is located at 46100 Grand River Ave.

Among the positions being offered are helping to build the Detroit Red Wings’ next arena, working on battery technology for greener cars, helping create the latest in voice recognition technology, and working on the mobile entertainment of the future.

Ford Motor Co. joins the Detroit utility DTE Energy and major auto suppliers Denso, Magna, IAC Group, Danlaw, Yazaki and Durr Systems in the job fair, along with major engineering companies like Link Engineering, NTH Consultants and Design Systems Inc., defense-oriented engineering firms like Leidos and RedViking, green energy companies like LG Chem Power and staffing firms like Aerotek, Bartech and Kforce.

The ESD Job Fair offers positions to engineers of all types, scientists, and people in related technical fields, from IT to the increasingly high-tech, energy-efficient building trades. Sales, administrative and financial positions will also be offered. Many of the jobs don’t require a four-year college degree, but some technical background is generally required.
