AT&T Expands U-Verse To 4,700 More Detroit-Area Locations

DETROIT — AT&T Inc. announced an expansion of its U-verse voice, data and cable TV service to 4,700 more customer locations in the Detroit area.

More than 122,000 customer locations were added across AT&T’s wireline territory in the same month.

The services include AT&T U-verse TV, AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet and AT&T U-verse Voice.

The expansion is part of Project Velocity IP (VIP), AT&T’s three-year investment plan to expand and enhance its wireless and wireline Internet Protocol (IP) broadband networks. It’s being driven by growing customer demand for high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app and cloud services.

A large amount of the local growth – about 1,100 customer locations – took place in Detroit during June. However, customer locations also were added in more than 10 other area towns and neighborhoods, including significant numbers in Marysville, Fort Gratiot Township, Holly and Inkster.

AT&T U-verse also offers TV on comptuers and smartphones. Included are HD channels, high internest speeds and flexible bundles of services.

AT&T U-verse, introduced in 2006, now has more than 16.4 million wireline broadband connections.
