TROY — The software and engineering services firm Altair Engineering Inc. has a new office in Stellenbosch, South Africa, thanks to its recent purchase of EM Software & Systems S.A., makers of Feko electromagnetic field analysis software.
Altair officials said it personnel in Stellenbosch will be responsible for all Altair sales and support activities in the region.
Feko now becomes part of the Altair HyperWorks modeling and visualization product suite. HyperWorks also offers analysis and optimization for structural analysis and lightweight design, computational fluid dynamics, multi-body system performance, manufacturing process simulations for metal and polymer extrusion, sheet metal forming simulation, and more.
“Altair’s flexible software licensing model replaces traditional licensing plans with a pay-per-use system, which means that users can use multiple applications for a unit-based flat rate rather than paying for each license,” said Gronum Smith, newly appointed country manager for Altair South Africa. “This approach leads to higher software utilisation, making companies more productive while reducing costs and resulting in a higher return on investment.”
HyperWorks users also have access to a broad range of product offerings from independent software vendors through the Altair Partner Alliance. Software covering areas such as composite modeling, plastic injection molding as well as project- and complexity management, durability, fatigue, noise, vibration and harshness are just some of the products available.
Detlef Schneider, senior vice president of Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Altair, said executives from the company are in South Africa this week to attend the launch functions in Pretoria and Stellenbosch. For more information, visit www.feko.info/about-us/events.
