FLINT — Diplomat, the country’s largest independent specialty pharmacy, has acquired MedPro Rx, a Raleigh, N.C.-based specialty pharmacy focused on specialty infusion therapies, including hemophilia and immune globulin.
“MedPro Rx shares our focus on caring for patients through personalized, high-touch service and communication,” said Phil Hagerman, Diplomat CEO. “We acquired MedPro to expand our existing specialty infusion business and to increase our presence in the mid-Atlantic and Southern regions of the country.”
Ron McFarlane, MedPro Rx COO, said the transaction will contiue the company’s 12-year history as a provider of high-touch specialized pharmacy and infusion services.
“Diplomat’s focus on providing consistent, high-touch patient care matches our own approach for MedPro Rx patients,” said McFarlane. “We are pleased to know that the care of our patients will continue to meet the quality standards our patients know and rely on.”
Diplomat wouldn’t disclose how many employees MedPro had, how many would stay on board with new ownership, or whether a Raleigh office would stay open.
Headquartered in Flint, Diplomat focuses on medication management programs for people with specialized or long-term medical needs, including oncology, immunology, hepatitis, multiple sclerosis, HIV, infusion therapy and many other serious or chronic conditions.
